I want to share one of the small projects that I have done upstairs. Indoor plants, I have tried many different indoor plants. I really love the succulents, but have hit and miss success with those. I think I have found that the key to succulents is only watering them with a few ice cubes once a week, but I digress.
Here is a nice example of how a little spray paint and an indoor plant can really make a space feel more organic. Bringing a little outside in, well, its just a great idea. The pot came from an estate sale that I went to in Lexington, KY for $10. Below, you can see the before and after.

So, the first day that the sun shined and it was above 50 degrees, I ran outside to transform this little plant stand. I used my favorite Rustoleum glossy gray paint. It took a few coats over an hour, because there were a lot of tricky angles. The plant originally in there was called mother in law's tongue. While it was easy to care for, it is just uninteresting. | I bought a rubber plant from Home Depot. They had a nice selection. I like palms, but have not had much luck with them. This plant just seemed perfect. It was substantial... not so light and airy like a palm. Plus, I think rubber plants are fool proof, but time will tell. I love the transformation it had. |
