Skirted tables are both good looking and functional. The fact that you can store things under them is invaluable. I would love to have a long craft table, wide enought for two seats. The space between the two windows upstairs is about 6 feet wide and is plently long enough for a table with two seats. Today, I picked up a 60 inch wide folding table off of Craigslist to go in the space. At first, I wanted Brian to build one for me, but that was too much time, energy, and stress to only then turn around and cover the whole thing in fabric. So then, I found some used desks on Craigslist, but again, I didn't want to spend $100 on a desk we were just going to cover up. So, while the folding table feels a little cheap, it really is the best option. This folding table is really sturdy. I can staple the fabric into it because its wood and not feel bad, and I can paint the top white it I decide not to put fabric on the top.
I am struggling on the look I want my skirted table to have AND the style of seating that I think would look good. Here are some of my ideas.

I love the top one with the picking stripe and the gathered skirt, but do not think it is quite modern looking enough. I think the bottom two images are more of what I am going for. The issue is whether I want to put fabric on the top and spend money on a glass top, or just paint the top and skirt the bottom. I think that the fabric on top with glass covering is the best look. Maybe I can justify the money for the glass since I only spent $5 on the table!
For the seating, I have two older chairs that went with my old dining room table in storage. They are similar to the purple chair in the above image. They are good because they are smaller profile chairs, which are needed for this. I think I will cover them in the Orangerie fabric, but can't decide what color to paint them.
Lastly, I cannot decide whether to do the skirt in a plain fabric with some trim or to go bold. This is the space where the table is going. The current table is cute, but not big enough.

Here is the simple trim look, which I am leaning towards. I would love to do a white with a red or lavender trim, but I am afraid that the white would get really dirty. What about a rasberry color with charcoal trim? Seems like too much. Maybe the lavender color with charcoal trim with be pretty?
If I went with something a bit more bold, here is what I am leaning towards. It is $17 a yard though and I would need at least 4 yards. I don't want the most expensive folding table on the earth!!
The only other option is this fabric, seen below. I absolutely love this David Hicks La Florientina fabric seen below and would like to incorporate this fabric somewhere though, I've just love this. There is a knock off on Spoonflower called Connect the Blocks that I might consider as well! So excited about a skirted table.!
