Acrylic Tables are all the rage now. Apparently, they were popular back in the 1960-70's. Well, they are pretty child friendly. The corners, while not rounded are not sharp. Also, they a light and airy and really help brighten up a space while serving the practical funtion of a coffee and/or side table. I was informed that they scatch, very easily. I have found that they do, but I bought this special cleaner that is really great at quick cleaning and at getting out small scratches. It is called Nova. The scratches do not bother me at all, but are something to consider.
We decided to put an acrylic table in the front room where you walk in the house. Formerly, there was an oversized yellow floral ottoman with a tray on top that we used as the coffee table. It was too large for the space, and a little ugly. I looked at two different acrylic tables, one from CB2 and one from an Ebay seller.

This is the one from CB2. The peekaboo table. They say, "now you see it, now you don't." Pretty cute. I decided against it because it had a really low height and the reviews complained about this. Also, it was a lot thinner so I wanted something more substantial.
Here is the one I went with. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Acrylic-Coffee-Cocktail-Waterfall-Table-Lucite-/271244938883?pt=US_Tables&hash=item3f27754e83#ht_4515wt_1133
When the table arrived, there was a chip in it. The seller immediately sent me a new table, and hopefully, got his money back from Fed Ex!

We have really enjoyed this table. At first, I thought it definetely was going to need a rug under it, but it is really just perfect without one. It is modern and airy. Here are some more pictures of it.
Some people store cute baskets under it, but with the kids, but in an effort to avoid clutter, I currently have the kids' baskets tucked in the corners of the room. Initially, I felt bad about that, but a friends said to me, don't kids like to play in corners anyways? I am not sure whether the cart or horse came first on that, but my kids do like to play in corners a lot.
I am still trying to decide how to style the table. I have a tray on it now, but am still experimenting.
