So I posted that I wanted a deerhead in my upstairs mood board. There is something about having a large powerful animal in your room. It is a protector, a watcher, a presense that brings some life to the room. We have a horse downstairs so I wanted something different upstair. There is an etsy seller that sells the 8 point heads already painted for $90. However, after some research, I found that you could buy it much cheaper if you are willing to spray paint the deerhead yourself. Well, yes, thank you very much, I am good friends with spray paint. I bought my deerhead from this seller on ebay for $49.99. So here is what it looked like before.
I got out the white spray paint and went to town. It took about 5 coats with 2 minutes between each coat. Not to bad to save $40. The etsy seller paints the antlers different colors, but I am going to keep her white for now. Here she is hanging up all solo and not framed out upstairs. Even this is an improvement, but I wanted to take it up a notch. I wanted a statement piece in this space that really filled the space. I researched different ways that people have mounted deerhead. I didn't see anything that I loved. I knew i loved marbelized Paper Mojo and really wanted to incorporated it into the space. So, I found a large frame with cork board in the middle at a thrift store for $2.99. I painted the frame gold, and used spray adhesive to fit the paper onto the top of the frame. Here is how it turned out:
Hanging it was a bit tricky. We hung up the frame and then had to hang the deer head through the cork board. Here is a picture that ilustrated!! I highly recommend finding thr right spot for a deer head in your home!!
