So, now above the TV area upstairs, I think we need a large piece of art. At first, I had thought I would use the "For Like Ever" Poster that I posted about earlier, but I worry that will feel too trendy and not timeless. The deer head art project fits the trendy bill upstairs so I wanted to counter balance it with something more traditional. I have started researching different ways to display maps. Brian has some older maps already framed downstairs in our home, one of Alabama and one of Scotland, where he lived for one year. Brian wants to collect old maps... I am not on board with him yet so of course, this simple project has led to a larger issue. Because of this, and because I want something really large, I feel like I can justify to him that we are not getting a "real" and "old" map, if I find something "cool" "fake" and "cheap" ... if that makes sense to any of you negotiators out there. These are Brian's "real" "old" maps, which hang in out dining room.
For the upstairs space, I am thinking a large world map. Here are some inspiration photos.
There are some companies that do wallpaper/mural maps that can fit to the size that you would like as seen here. Those you would hang and not have to frame it. There are some on ebay that look nice, like this one. There are some that come with spray adhesive run, which from $60 to $100. It seems that you could just get a large map and spray adhesive it yourself to a large canvas, foam board from a craft store, or a cheap piece of mdf that Home Depot would cut for you. Let the search begin and let it not be an exhausting and long one like most of my searching for the "best" and "stylish" and "cheap" product that exists.. Here's hoping.
