Lamps seems like an easy affordable way to go Big with some color. So we had four lamps in the front two rooms, three floor lamps, one given to us by my parents , two were from Brian's Restoration Hardware bargain shopping days (apprently their bargain bind used to actually be affordable), and finally Brian's TJ Max Tiffany glass lamp, which I wanted to dump but Brian said No! Here are the 4 existing lamps.
We needed one more lamp in the peninsula sitting room to go on the side table. This was a chance for some real color! The Hot House throw pillows were next to where the lamp was going and they had both a brilliant TN orange and a burnt orange. I decided that I had to find a burnt orange lamp. Oh my, little did I realize the challenge, but as always, I became a girl on a mission. After hitting every homegoods and tj max in nashville, I hit up some smaller stores. The perfect lamp was at Alegria in east nashville. It came with a older style shade that I didn't love, but the base was perfect.
So now, the shade. Because this was an older lamp, it was difficult to find a shade. I was set on a white linen drum shade because I thought that would make the lamp feel a bit more modern. It needed a tall shade and the only tall drum shades I found were also very wide. So I ended up with this one from pottery barn. I tried several and I will say that there is definitely a difference in quality with regard to lamp shades. The pottery barn one, while the most expensive of all the ones I tried, had the nicest linen quality! Here is a close up of the shade and then how the new lamp turned out in the room.
